hey, want to make some art together?

A romantic scene with a couple lying on a bed by the water during sunset, facing each other closely and touching faces, with a small lantern between them on a small boat.

My name is Aurora and I am based in beautiful Southsea with my wonderful fiancé and a lil fluffball called Merlin.

I’m an artist, a photographer, a writer, a gamer and a storyteller. I love to curl up by a rainy window with a good book, sing the same song on repeat while I edit, I cook a badass veggie lasagne and on my weekends I play Dungeons and Dragons.

I love people. Which is weird because I’m pretty introverted. I love hearing stories, and writing my own. I fell in love with photography when I was really little. I grew up in a yurt in some bluebell woods. My childhood was the kind of magic where we played in lakes and covered ourselves in paint and picked blackberries off bushes and baked them in pies (that I then refused to eat). Nature is at the centre of everything I do and in my world, the Romanticist period never ended.

I’m neurodiverse, I think deeply, create in chaos and I adore holding space for my clients to feel safe and grounded while we make art together.

I’m obsessed with storytelling; writing, photographing, painting… I love to create little worlds in the in-between. I’d call it escapism, but I love the ordinary just as much as fantasy, I just get bored staying put in any way for too long. Call it my ADHD, call it my reliance on rpgs, call it a crazy artist vibe - in whatever way you look at it, I find making spaces where anything is possible just about the best way to live.

I’m a hardcore romantic. I adore capturing couples, learning their love story and watching it blossom over the years. But it isn’t just couples; its the love we have for our families, ourselves, our friends. Shooting through a rose-tinted lens is my favourite way to be.

I have a first-class degree in Photography from the University of Portsmouth and have been working professionally as a photographer for over a decade. I created Aurora Photographic in 2022 and went headfirst into full-time because I can’t do anything if I’m not all in. It continues to be the most incredible, ridiculous, wonderful, magical adventure.

I’m a self-portrait artist. I was featured on Sky Arts in 2020 Rankin, and in the book of the same name, for my self-portrait work during lockdown. I released an online solo exhibition called ‘do it cos you love it’ when I graduated, featuring 52 self-portraits made during the 2021 lockdown.

Since 2020 I’ve been creating self-portraits as often as I can. Sometimes it celebrates the start or end of a chapter in my life. Sometimes I stick flowers to my face or oil paint in my mouth just because.

Why choose me as a photographer?

I love what I do so much. As a neurospicy artist, I will often get lost in thought and then crazy excited about an idea that may well involve climbing a tree or doing ballet in a river. My reviews say I’m grounding and a calm energy, and I’m great at communication; I’m not the quickest hype girl you’ve seen. I approach projects slowly, carefully, I want to understand you and the story you want to share with the world or yourself. I want you to feel seen. I want you to feel what it is to be a muse; to have someone giddy over photographing you. I know what it is like to overthink and so I give you as much information as you could ever need. I work everyday to make the little space that I take up in the world feel as safe and accessible as possible. Sometimes I am a business but I am always a human, and in this line of work I often find myself creating for vulnerable people or in vulnerable situations. So I focus on safety, comfort, crafting an environment where you can be whoever you want to be, no judgement, just kindness, and consideration, and a calm but solid foundation. Because when we feel safe as people, we can play like we are children. And play is where the magic happens.
